Meet Jonathan Irvine, the architectural technician behind the practice
Jonathan Irvine has spent more than 15 years as an architectural technician, specialising in the technical side of architecture and building consent, and it is genuinely the part of the process he enjoys most.
Much of the industry gravitates towards front-end design, but Jonathan is drawn to the details: the junctions, the documentation, the coordination and the problem-solving that quietly determine whether a building performs well for the next 50 years or causes headaches from day one.
Jonathan is a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) in Design and a member of Architectural Designers New Zealand (ADNZ), and he runs Irvine Technical Consulting alongside his wife. It is a small, deliberately focused practice, and every project comes across his desk personally.
Clients value working directly with Jonathan because he makes complex technical issues easy to understand. Whether explaining a building consent requirement, identifying a design risk or coordinating consultants, his approach is practical, collaborative and focused on finding the right solution, not the most complicated one.
